AbstractThe use of weak sulfonic acids (methanesulfonic and α‐carboxyalkane sulfonic acids) as catalysts in the diacylation reaction between carboxylic acid anhydrides and isoalkenes generated from the alcohols (I) affords almost exclusively the more substituted pyrylium salt.
