Abstract

In previous work [I], we established the possibility of using much less vigorous conditions for the Carrol rearrangement when this reaction is carried out on an alumina surface and proposed the possibility of the use of this method for accelerating other sigmatropic rearrangements. In order to check this hypothesis, we carried out the rearrangement of a series of allyl ethers of phenols to give the isomeric C-allyl derivatives (Claisen rearrangement) under adsorption conditions. The Claisen rearrangement is usually carried out by the rearrangement of O-allyl compounds at 200-300~ [2,3].
