AbstractThe reaction between β‐ethoxyacrolein diethyl acetal (I) and the cyclic 1‐ethoxy‐1,3‐butadienes (II) or (VIII) yields the tetraethoxydienes (III) or (IX), which are converted to the heptamethine salts (V) or (X).
