Abstract

The aromatization of methane is a new and promising method for the preparation of aromatic hydrocarbons(ArH) [1-4]. In previous work [I], we reported the possibility of the catalytic synthesis of ArH from methane in the presence of modified pentasils in an inert gas medium, but the yields of ArH did not exceed 6.4%. In subsequent communications [2-4], various workers have briefly reported on an oxidative variant of the methane aromatization in the presence of nitrogen oxides or atmospheric oxygen in a flow system. The yield of benzene did not exceed 1% [2, 3].
