AbstractUpon heating in diphenyl ether, S‐(4‐oximinoalkyl)xanthates with a secondary isopropyl or isobutyl group on the oxygen undergo a Chugaev elimination followed by ring closure onto the oxime giving dihydrothiazines, a virtually unknown class of heterocycles.
