Abstract

Abstract An alternate and high-yield synthesis of the simple tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloid arizonine, via the sodium cyanoborohydride mediated reductive amination of 2-benzylpxy-3-methoxyacetophenone with aminoacetaldehyde diethyl acetal, as the key step, is reported.
