AbstractThe thermal disproportionation of the dialkylphosphine oxides (I), yielding (IV) and (V), is accelerated by the dialkylphosphinic chloride (II)/dialkylchlorophosphine (III) system which is generated in situ by chlorination of (I) with a catalytic amount of carbon tetrachloride.
