AbstractThe first NHC‐catalyzed reaction of aliphatic carboxylic acid anhydrides (I) and (IV) with diones (II) and (V), as well as chalcones (VII), and isatins (IX) is presented to give substituted cyclopentenes (III), (VI), (VIII), and spirocyclic butyrolactones (X).
