Abstract

The renohypertrophic effects of folic acid have been compared with those of a number, of other compounds of related or unrelated structure, and with other stresses on the kidney such as those caused by ureteral ligation or the administration of uranium salts. It is suggested that the renohypertrophic effects of folic acid and other compounds are the result of partial tubular blockage caused by precipitation of the substances in the kidney tubules.
