Abstract

The results of synthesis of composite materials based on silicon nitride, which have been discussed from the standpoint of chemical and (or) thermal conjugation, are presented. Synthesis of silicon nitride via the interaction of ferrosilicon in nitrogen in the combustion regime is examined as the inducing process. It is shown that the energy of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis makes it possible to obtain composite, silicon nitride based, ceramic materials in the process of nitriding ferrosilicon: Si3N4 – ZrO2 – Si2N2O, Si3N4 – TiN – Si2N2O, Si3N4 – BN, Si3Al3O3N5, and Si3N4 – SiC.
