Abstract

A thermodynamic model of the aqueous hydrofluoric acid solutions is parameterized and applied to represent the osmotic coefficient, ionic mean activity coefficient, pH, and liquid chemical speciation of system HF-H2O. The developed model is suitable for temperature varying from 273.15 K up to 473.15 K and concentrations from infinite dilution to 20 mol.kg−1. Many obvious computational errors and a critical analysis of the measurement data of the aqueous solutions of the HF-H2O system in the literature are recorded and discussed.
