Abstract

AbstractChemical processes are generally required to use sampled data. By the nature of the sampling method, differences exist between the known sample data theory and that related to chemical processes.Taking a sample from a chemical process stream really measures the weighted mean. The frequency filtering effect of this sampling is analyzed. The significant parameters and their effects are pointed out. Several weighting functions are evaluated and the relative values discussed.A continuous stirred tank reactor system is analyzed. The responses to the actual signal and the sampled signal are compared. This points out the validity of this method for use in a predictor model reference control system for example.
