Abstract

Reliability analysis of chemical reactor safety system(CRSS) has been studied under the assumption of statistically- independent of component however reliability evaluation of chemical reactor safety system is a rarely studied problem. Common cause failure(CCF) affects system reliability drastically for example Bhopal gas leakage tragedy, fukushima disaster in japan, kalpakkam nuclear power plant radiation, space mission of kalpana chawla etc. Common cause failure is a significant hazard to safety instrumentation systems reliability such that chemical reactor safety system, nuclear reactor safety system, machinery system, space industry and other plant etc. In this paper reliability modeling and evaluation under common cause failure of chemical reactor safety system has been carried out. Reliability of chemical reactor safety system with and without common cause failure has been computed and on the basis of results, it has been observed and pointed out that there is decreased in system reliability subjected to common cause failure by 17.43%.
