Abstract

Westinghouse has designed an inertial confinement fusion reactor chamber which uses a thin film of tantalum as the protective first wall. This paper summarizes the materials compatibility study relative to the first wall and pellet debris chemical reactions. The analysis is based on current published data on the various materials.
