Abstract

In the earlier chapter on polymer fundamentals, the concepts of addition and condensation polymerizations were introduced. The recognition that differences in polymerizations could be categorized was due initially to Wallace Carothers. His perception related to the formation of a small by-product molecule in the case of condensation polymerization and the lack of such a molecule in addition polymerization.
