Abstract

ABSTRACT A short review of progress in the development of detailed chemical mechanisms for combustion modeling during the last 25 years is given, with some examples of today's specific chemical kinetic problems in combustion. Future advances in chemical kinetics and combustion modeling are speculated. The impact, in the field of chemical kinetic modeling of combustion, of expected changes in fuel resources and use during the next 25 years, and of possible emerging technologies is evaluated.
