Abstract

inventory of chemicals in an analytical laboratory is dependent upon the number of samples brought in and the types of analyses performed. Different analyses use different amount and kind of chemicals. The service level of an in-house analytical laboratory is very important to a company. If chemicals are not in stock and analyses not performed, it may cause loss of customers or products in the process development stages. With growing competition, proper control over the chemical inventories is absolutely essential. This paper discusses inventory policies for chemicals designed to maintain a desired service level in an analytical laboratory.
