Abstract

In a previous paper [l] , the actual status of the applications of computer programs and systems* in the research and development of organic coatings (also paint materials) was discussed. This article describes the current and future possibilities of the use of computers in paint materials production. Nowadays the accessible technical literature on applications of computers in industry and production is so numerous and extended that only the main and outstanding examples may be briefly outlined. Some of the applications are connected with the general management of the company; they are not specific for paint production but rather are common to different industrial domains. Obviously, those computing systems are also capable of playing an advisory (consultative), checking, and managing role, and besides, may supply many important documents, such as pay rolls, production reports, balance sheets, waybills, and economical multiple standards. The systems may also edit warning communications or information on optimal adjustments and also on installation (or whole plant) conditions [2]. On the other side, there are many specific examples of very useful applications of computers, specific to the organic coating industry.
