Abstract

Let us consider and define the terms ‘percutaneous absorption,’ ‘skin permeation,’ and ‘skin penetration.’ The term ‘percutaneous absorption’ is often used instead of ‘skin permeation.’ First, we need to distinguish ‘percutaneous absorption’ from ‘skin permeation.’ In addition, the term ‘skin penetration’ is also used in a similar context. Although for this author there was some concern regarding the accurate definition of these terms, a paper by Basketter et al. [1] provided the needed clarification.
