Abstract

SummaryShoots of maiden cv Cox’s Orange Pippin apple trees, M.9 and MM. 106 apple rootstocks, cv Pixy plum and cv Colt cherry rootstocks were effectively defoliated by CuEDTA whereas Quince A rootstock responded slowly. Tips of M.9 were slightly damaged by Cu treatment. A possible mode of action and interaction with endogenous factors are discussed. Treatment with WK surfactant, ethephon or phenylthiadiazolyl thioacetate (NC9634) in combination with CuEDTA generally failed to enhance the effect of CuEDTA alone.
