Abstract

One percent formulations of Guthion®( O,O -dimethyl S -(4-oxo-1,2,3-benzotriazin-3 (4 H )-ylmethyl) phosphorodithioate) and endosulfan (Thiodan®) were applied to Douglas-fir cones by portable mistblower operated from the platform of a truck-mounted ladder. Cone midge numbers were reduced 74% in treated cones and seed yield was increased 2½ times. However, cone abortion was higher among treated cones than among untreated cones.
