Abstract

Twenty compounds were isolated from the pollen of Typha angustifolia L. using refluxing methanol. These compounds included seven flavonoids (1–7), four glycerolipids (8–11), three alkaloids (12–14), three steroids (15–17), two carboxylic acids (18, 19) and one cerebroside (20). The structures of the compounds were determined by NMR spectroscopy and the spectroscopic data were compared to previously reported data. Compound 17 was isolated from the pollen of T. angustifolia L. for the first time in this study and compounds 8–11 and 16 were discovered in the family Typhaceae for the first time. The chemotaxonomic significance of these compounds isolated from T. angustifolia L. was discussed.
