Abstract

Strain PRE-5 was isolated from the root of the herbal plant Panax notoginseng and was identified as Trichoderma ovalisporum based on its sequence at the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions. From the extracts of fermentation broth and mycelia of strain PRE-5, five compounds koninginin A (1), (E)-2,3-dihydroxypropyl octadec-9-enoate (2), shikimic acid (3), adenine ribonucleoside (4), and cytosine ribonucleoside (5) were obtained. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of their spectroscopic data. All compounds were assayed for antibacterial activity. Compound 3 showed activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Micrococcus luteus and Escherichia coli.
