Abstract

Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim. is an important condiment and traditional Chinese Medicine. Fifteen compounds were isolated from pericarps of Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim., including two alkylamides (1–2), five coumarins (3–7), seven flavonoids (8–14), and one alkaloid (15). Their structures were elucidated based on NMR experiments and by comparison with literature data. To the best of our knowledge, compounds 1 and 13 were first obtained from this plant, compounds 4–5 and 7 were first reported from the genus Zanthoxylum, compounds 11–12 were first obtained from the family Rutaceae, and compounds 1–2 and 9 were only isolated from Zanthoxylum (Rutaceae). Moreover, the chemotaxonomic significance of constituents was also discussed.
