Abstract
AIM: To investigate the chemical constituents from the aerial parts of Cichorium glandulosum Boiss. et Huet. METHODS: Various column chromatographic methods were applied for the isolation and purification of the chemical constituents and their structures were elucidated on the basis of 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopic techniques. RESULTS: Eleven compounds were isolated and identified as lactucin (1), lactucopicrin (2), esculetin (3), cichoriin (4), quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucuronide (5), kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucuronide (6), isoquercitrin (7), isorhamnetin (8), quercetin (9), inosine (10) and p-hydroxybenzoic acid (11). CONCLUSION: Compounds 4-11 were obtained from this plant firstly and compounds 5-6, 8-11 were isolated from this genus for the first time.
