Abstract

Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, also called “Qinjiao” in Chinese, is the dried roots derived from the perennial herbs of Gentiana genus belonging to Gentianaceae family. Phytochemical research on the root of Gentiana crassicaulis Duthie ex Burk led to the isolation of a new secoiridoid aglycon, a new benzoic acid derivative, together with 14 known constituents. The structures were identified by means of spectra analysis and data comparison with previous literatures. In which, compounds 1, 4 and 10 were isolated from the genus Gentiana for the first time and compounds 2, 3, 5–7, 11–13 and 16 were firstly reported from Gentiana crassicaulis Duthie ex Burk. The chemotaxonomic significance of isolates was further discussed.
