Abstract

Aspergillus japonicus was isolated from polymetallic sulfide thulium deposits in the South Atlantic. A systematic investigation on its secondary metabolites led to the isolation of one new (1) and 23 known (2–24) compounds. Mainly by detailed analysis of the NMR and HRESIMS spectroscopic data, DP4+ probability, as well as calculated ECD spectra, the absolute configuration of 1 was finally determined to be (3S,5R,7R,9R,11S) methyl-3,5,9-trihydroxy-7,11-epoxytetradecanoate. Compound 1 could be used as chemotaxonomic marker of A. japonicus W6 to distinguish the other A. japonicus.
