Abstract
We describe a time-dependent approach to the problem of combining electronic structure and nuclear motion, aiming at a consistent picture of vibrating chemical bonds. The key concepts are the time-dependent variational principle, coherent states, quantum mechanical nuclei and general complex spin orbitals.
