Abstract

The induction of systemic resistance was studied to elucidate the role of azoxystrobin and Pseudomonas fluorescens in disease control on chilli against Colletotrichum capsici and Leveillula taurica. The activity of defense enzymes viz., peroxidase (PO), polyphenol oxidase (PPO), phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL), β-1,3 glucanase, chitinase, catalase and defense inducing chemicals (total phenols) was found to be increased in azoxystrobin and P. fluorescens treated chilli plants. Increased expression of specific isoforms of PO and PPO was also observed due to Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR) induction.
