Abstract
One of the more distinctive ground beetles occasionally found in Travis County, Tex., is Progaleritina mexicana (Chaudoir) whose orange-colored pronotum and velvety black elytra present a rather attractive appearance. Being very timid and retiring, this beetle is usually found secluded in moist leaves and debris but occasionally can be taken under lights at night.
