Abstract

Objectives: Acupuncture (AC) is known to be effective for various pain conditions. However, systematic and personalized allocation of acupoints may be decisive for the efficacy of treatment. We developed a concept to differentiate patterns of complaints based on the relative pressure sensitivity of six abdominal checkpoints (G1-G6). Increased sensitivity of these pressure points may indicate a specific vegetative functional involvement as a criterion of acupoint selection. Study objective was proof of concept for addressing postoperative pain via checkpoint acupuncture.
