Abstract

ABSTRACT Mosses are an impotent component of developing plant communities of glacier forelands of the Russian Altai Mountains. The check-list of mosses of the Maly Aktru glacier foreland includes 44 species that is 8.9% of species diversity of the moss flora of the Russian Altai Mountains. The moss species diversity of the Maly Aktru glacier foreland is significantly higher than that of other deglaciated areas of the Northern hemisphere mountain systems. Twenty-six species of the Maly Aktru glacier foreland check-list were not previously recorded on other deglaciated areas. The β-diversity values between the Maly Aktru glacier foreland and other deglaciated areas are rather high (0.123–0.276).
