Abstract

Due to battery limits, the operation of plug-in pure electric vehicle is remarkably different from conventional vehicles because charging strategy could affect the electric vehicle's overall operating cost directly. This paper analyzes the battery statement, charging station configuration, fleet size, and other influencing factors; builds a vehicle operation cost function; and proposes the electric vehicle chain method on the basis of seeking minimum vehicle in single line to optimize the comprehensive cost of the vehicle operation by considering the battery charge and discharge strategy, the number of charging facilities, charging rate, and vehicle scheduling scheme. Taking Dongguan SongShan Lake vehicle lines for example and choosing medium-sized vehicle as operational vehicles, the optimizing results of operational program show that the strategy that battery charges and discharges on shallow ways can extend battery life significantly; using 0.5C charge rate, fleet is moderate, battery status is better, charging facilities are in lower-cost, and vehicle operation cost is lowest.
