Abstract

On basis of the kinetic equations for electrons and ions of a dusty plasma where charging collisions are dominant, dispersion relations of waves are analyzed. New modes are found and new damping rates of modes already known for plasmas without dust. Exact kinetic equations for all species are derived from first principles. Approximations are obtained for the equilibrium charge and velocity distributions of the dust particles. The charging mechanism and absorption collisions lead to anomalous heating of dust particles, in qualitative agreement with experimental observation. The recent development of kinetic theory with variable mass is briefly discussed.
