Abstract

A charged particle detector array consisting of 50 Si–CsI detector telescopes for study of heavy-ion reactions is under construction in BARC-TIFR Pelletron-LINAC facility. Single-sided segmented silicon-pad detectors of 300 μm thickness and 400 mm 2 total active area have been fabricated for this purpose and their design parameters along with static and dynamic characteristics are presented. A low-cost solution for implementing the pulse-shape-based particle discrimination technique with the silicon-pad detectors has been demonstrated through in-beam measurements and the results obtained are presented.
