Abstract

Motivated by recent experimental results from the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center and the Kolar gold mine we give a parton-model analysis of the reaction $p+p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{L}^{+}+{L}^{\ensuremath{-}}+X\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}+{e}^{\ensuremath{\mp}}+\mathrm{neutrinos}+X$. We present results for the total cross sections and the differential cross sections with respect to the invariant mass squared of the final charged leptons and the transverse momentum of each one of them.
