Abstract

This article reports on the use of charged gold leaf in the closure of a urethrovaginal fistula resulting from the excision of a urethral diverticulum, in the functional restoration of a stenosed vagina complicated by labial fusion, and in the excision of urethral caruncles. An improved method of applying this material is described which has permitted its wider application in female urologic procedures. The unique properties of gold leaf accounting for its effectiveness are discussed.
