Abstract

This chapter is concerned with charge transfer processes on ultrathin oxide films. The discussion is centered around Au deposited on ultrathin single crystalline oxide films as model systems to illustrate the different effects associated with charge transfer processes. Apart from Au atoms and 1- or 2-dimensional Au particles the behavior of oxygen (O2) as an example for a molecule with high electron affinity will be discussed.
