Abstract

Abstract The π-π type charge transfer (CT) interaction ability of 4-nitropyridine- and 4-nitroquinoline-N-oxides was examined. It is concluded that the latter compound is a slightly stronger π electron acceptor than the former, and that the strength of these N-oxides as π type electron acceptor is relatively weak compared to that of the other typical electron acceptors such as p-benzoquinone etc.
