Abstract

The present article deals with the problem of mutually nearest points of two nonempty sets S and W in a real normed linear space. A characterization result of Kolmogorov-type of mutually nearest points for S and W is established in view of a solar pair of S × W, and the relationship between a solar pair of S × W and solar points of S and W is obtained. Also, uniqueness results of the pair of mutually nearest points for S and W are given.
