Abstract

We have fabricated and characterized novel organic electroluminescent devices based on a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)-2-(4-biphenyl)-5-(4-t-butylphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (PBD) nanocomposite. Studies of luminescence and device characteristics demonstrate that as the fraction of SWCNTs in the PBD medium increases in the range of 0-1.0 wt%, the device performances such as external quantum efficiency (EQE) are significantly improved by a factor of 3 to 4 due to the efficient electron transport through highly conductive nanotubes.
