Abstract
Various congestion management mechanisms have been proposed to mitigate the operational problems caused by the high penetration of distributed energy resources in distribution networks. Among them, capacity limitation services have recently gained attention. However, detailed analyses are required to evaluate such services for system operators to determine the exact impact and effectiveness in distribution networks. This work explores the impact of capacity limitation services on network states. The investigation is designed to quantity the effects of service area and capacity limitation value. The assessment of such services under various scenarios provides the distribution system operators with insight on understanding system behavior, and assists them in requesting suitable services when foreseeing operational problems.
