Abstract

Testis ecdysiotropin (TE) induces synthesis of ecdysteroids by testes of Heliothis virescens and Lymantria dispar. TE was detected in extracts of male brains, at times corresponding to fusion of paired testes (Loeb et al.. 1987, 1988) and development of the genital tract (Loeb, unpublished) and did not necessarily correspond to major hemolymph ecdysteroid peaks (Loeb et al, 1987, 1988; Schnee et al., 1984). TE may be comparable to the neuropeptides prothoracicotropic hormone (PTTH) and egg development neurosecretory hormone (EDNH).KeywordsLuteinizing HormoneGypsy MothHigh Molecular Weight FractionMale BrainAdult EclosionThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
