Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Spinal cord injury (SCI) leads to decreased seminal quality and absence of ejaculation. The two main methods of obtaining ejaculates in men with SCI are electroejaculation (EEJ) and penile vibratory stimulation (PVS). Although efficient in retrieving semen, quality is usually very low. Current proteomic tools now offer the opportunity to identify proteins which are differentially expressed in seminal samples retrieved from EEJ or PVS of SCI patients and potentially involved in infertility.
