Abstract

Kaiser function utilization for a power weighted linear antenna array is a promising alternative for modification and implementation to satisfy performance metric. The function is expected to enhance the design flexibility of linear antenna array in terms of radiation pattern, especially sidelobe level (SLL) and width of mainlobe (WML). In this paper, a linear antenna array working at the X-band frequency of 9. 5GHz is applied to implement the weighting coefficient based on Kaiser function with a targeted SLL in odd and even number of radiator elements. As a comparison, a uniform linear antenna array is also investigated in the analysis. The result of analysis for constant element number of array and constant inter element spacing shows that the Kaiser function could improve the WML and SLL of linear antenna array in comparison to the uniform distribution. The radiation pattern of Kaiser function-based power weighted linear antenna array has demonstrated design flexibility in terms of SLL and WML.
