Abstract

Porosity characterization during electrodeposition of polyaniline–polystyrenesulfonate (PA–PSS) in acid solutions has been performed by means of a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). The quartz crystal impedance analysis was carried out with a new model that takes into account the porosity of the material. PA–PSS films behave as rigid and open porous films, with deposition rates proportional to the previous deposited area. The increment of the area produces dramatic changes on the EQCM response, magnifying the viscous damping of the electrolyte.
