Abstract

Characterization of new polymorphic microsatellite loci in the spiny-breasted frog, Quasipaa fasciculispina (Paini) from the Khao Soi Dao population revealed substantial amount of genetic diversity at its type locality. The number of alleles per locus ranged from 4 to 28. The range of observed heterozygosity was 0.4615–0.9652. No significant linkage disequilibrium was observed across all loci. Deviation from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium was observed at one locus. Amplification using primers developed from related frog species did not provide satisfactory results. Therefore, these new microsatellite loci will be useful for further investigation of this species.
