Abstract

It is essential to characterize the output beam properties, such as beam energy, beam profile and beam emittance for high operational efficiency and reliability with low beam loss. To measure the beam energy, we applied TOF method by using beam phases signal measured with beam position monitor with varying RF phase setting in each drift tube linac (DTL) tank. A luminescent plate provides a convenient method for the beam profile measurement. By observing the beam profile with varying quadrupole gradient, we can measure the beam emittance. We report the methods and results of the characterization of output beam from a 100-MeV proton linac at Korea Multipurpose Accelerator Complex (KOMAC) in this paper.
