Abstract
CF1 has several kinds of nucleotide binding sites. From our studies of nucleotide binding by UV difference spectroscopy and by equilibrium dialysis and of effects of methanol on the enzyme-bound ATP formation from medium ADP, we have characterized five kinds of nucleotide binding sites: Sites A, B, C and I, and a few low-affinity sites. Our conclusion is “CF1 has two kinds of nucleotide tightly binding sites, and most of the tightly bound ADP is on the non-catalytic site”.
