Abstract

The ten isomeric naphthalene dicarboxylic acids have been prepared using standard methods, and the ultraviolet absorption spectra of these acids in water have been obtained. The spectra and molar extinction coefficients can serve to characterize these acids, which may be found in the products of the oxidative degradation of coal.
